Thank you Bob.  Your guess as to the oblong shape of the reproduction bracket/grommet is probably accurate and a safe assumption.  Were two brackets an OE installation or just this restorer's idea ?  Was a second nut really OE or just this restorer's idea ?  Pictures from the Joe Sikora site, 70 CJ motor ?, show one bracket and one nut.  Brian

Brian it is supposed to depend on application as they show different depending on engine when illustrated in the engine assemblyline manuals and with that said as we have seen before the real world doesn't always agree with the engineered way as in the manuals . Sometimes the manual will show one bracket only for a application and you will often find two on a unmessed with car.
