67 I6 200 Heater Hose W/AC
« on: June 15, 2011, 08:18:33 AM »
I would like to know if the metal tube shown between the carb and head is stock (see attached picture).  I have been told it is not.   No ford markings or part number - so I am suspect.  But, I have seen the same tube on another 67 I6 200 engine with AC.  The owner told me it was original. Also, if anyone can help me with the 90 degree placement of the heater hoses, I would appreciate the input.  I know one 90 degree goes on the heater control valve, but I do no know where the second one goes.  I suspect  at the head next to the AC compressor.  If it is correct, I will clean it up and put period correct clamps on it.  The engine restoration is a work in progress.  (Also, the engine is old ford blue not corporate blue. for some reason the flash makes it look lighter than it is).

I am not certain about the tube but I do not think it is correct. Here is a digram for the I6. Marty

Checked my pictures but unfortunately the AC pump always blocks the view of the area you are asking about - sorry

Looking over my old posts and have an update.

looks like the part number is: C6DE-18674-C - Tube Outlet.  I have an early 67 - so this may be one of the differences in early 67's

Source 1967 Engine Assembly Manual.

By the way, my tube rotted out and The Original Air Group was kind enough to manufacture a new one for me.

Viewers should note that the page posted is dated Feb 67. We don't know if another page with a different routing or parts was produced after than date during 67 production

Even after 9 additional years since this thread was posted I've not come up with many additional supporting pictures. So often the hoses have been replaced and owners often choice not to reuse what may have been rusting metal hoses. Replacing the run with all hose and or changing fittings

Here is one example of a factory metal tube still in place though allot of it is not visible car is 7R03T218xx for reference purposes which would make it likely a very late build car at San Jose. Unfortunately its not a AC example On those cars you can't see the hose or tubing

timber67 : This is just another good example of the many discrepancies, contradictions and questions which arise due to all of the changes made during the 1967 Model year. Note on the picture that you Posted from the 1967 Engine Assembly Manual in your Reply # 4, and the picture I Posted from the Electrical Assembly Manual in regard to your other Topic on the A/C Clutches (both pictures I have re-Posted here ; the Date on the drawing that you Posted (which shows the tube), is February 10, 1967, while the one I Posted (without the tube) is Dated January 1, 1967, a little over a month earlier. I have also attached three other drawings from the Engine Assembly Manual that show various combinations of Heater, A/C and Thermactor. Again, note the Dates.

Of course the best way to know what was actually used and when, is to find original, un-restored examples from each Plant, with Dates close to the one in question. This is easier said than done.

The above is just to give you an idea as to how daunting a single question can be, particularly for 67's.

If one is needed I think I have one on the shelf.
