AC Hose Clamp
« on: June 14, 2011, 11:08:43 AM »
Is this a homemade a/c hose strap/clamp?

Not the little one...the big one.

Small world ain't it?  I'm just trying to put factory air in my 66 so that even the mot highly trained eye cannot tell.

LOL.  That bracket has been on the car since we got it in 92.  I don't know of any place that sells it.  You might have to look around ebay or junk yards...I assume 66 still had that bracket but I'm sure someone can confirm it.

  • If it does not fit, you need a bigger hammer!

I had one but it rusted.  I found a use for those fenders that are no good and cut one and bent it to shape. It was not that hard just have to have one to look at.

Bryan,

Were you able to find out if 66 still used that bracket?

I can try and take some measurements if needed and some more pics if you want to try and make one.  Too bad there isn't a huge market for it to be made by a supplier.  I know I offered Marti Auto works to make a mold of a correct bypass hose I got with the correct markings and ribs but he stated no one is really going that route...and the cost would be high for a new mold.  Maybe things will change

Bryan,
Here's another pic of a 66 AC hose strap I saved from somewhere. You may have to make your own (which shouldn't be a problem for you)

Bryan,

Were you able to find out if 66 still used that bracket?

I have pictures of original 66's with AC and the steel strap retainer

Jeff,

Is that bracket plant specific or were all three supposed to have it?
