Headlights

I'm sure I've probably asked this question before but it's starting to happen again and not sure why.  While I am driving, my headlights randomly go on and off...I replaced the headlight switch about a year and a half ago.  The original one was still in there after 40+ years.  Could the new switch be going bad already?  Is there anything else I should look for or change on the car to correct this problem?  Doesn't do it every time I drive the car...

It could be the switch, although there are a number of other things that can cause it... such as bad grounds to the chassis, repro voltage regulator, etc..

Hmm...I just put a replacement voltage regulator in the car..the old style...since the one that was in there was going bad and causing the alt light to flicker on and off.  It was a voltage regulator for a 73 Mustang (just changed the top cover) that was in there for a couple of years now.  Guess I'll change it again...See if that cures it.  Thanks Charles...

Flickering on and off of the headlamps is usually due to a bad high beam switch on the floor board, believe it or not!

Yeah I know the high beam switch in there is also original....It has a FOMOCO script on one of the plug spades...Charles, I saw the K-code conv had block lettering according to your 08/17/09 posting on your blog...Is this another variety?  I haven't been able to find a replacement on ebay yet...

The block FoMoCo was what I was finding on San Jose cars from that time period.  There was some variance in style/markings.

If you want to add this one to your catalog for SJ cars from Oct of 64.
