Topic: Air cleaner sloppy fit

I don't know why I didn't notice this before, but the air cleaner on my 67 GT500 slides around on the carbs. Maybe about an 1/8" of slop. If the air cleaner is pushed all the way over to one side, there is a small gap on the other side where air can get through without passing thru the filter. Are there wider gaskets for the carbs? Or should I carefully center the gaskets, place the air cleaner bottom and hope I don't move it too much when placing to top cover?

It looks like the bottom of the air cleaner is not engaging the ring of the carb air horn. I would center the gasket on the upside down air cleaner base with some contact /weatherstrip adhesive. You apply adhesive lightly to both the base and the gasket surfaces then let tack up which would be about 3 minutes before sticking together . Let dry . The gasket is now stuck to the base and not allow the base to move outside the airhorn ring like it does now.  Problem solved. FYI  The factory round gaskets had a red colored adhesive applied to them so typically they would stick to the bottom of the base.
