I know some desirable cars can go pretty high on the price. How about a simple 66 6 cylinder coupe? I have a friend looking at one in So Cal. From the pictures, it looks decent but when looking closer, not so much. Spry bomb resto under the hood, chrome valve cover, aluminum radiator and repaired battery cable just to note a few.
I thought a running driving 6 cylinder coupe should be worth $7-12K. $15K should be near concours. Of course, you have to start deducting for things needing to be fixed. Paint is the most costly repair of the visual inspection. Are these numbers still realistic? In my opinion, trying to resell a 6 cylinder for a future upgrade is tough. Myself, I love 6 cylinders but the rest of the world does not.
