General question, I bought new springs from Eaton Detroit spring and they look mint. What are most people doing to show the factory look, just clear coat them? Front and rear.

All the springs that I have heard about bought from Eaton are painted black along with clamps. Black is wrong for a assemblyline finish. I would do as already mentioned and research past posts on the subject.

If you contact Detroit Eaton Spring directly, they might still offer a service that I used, which is disassembly of the leaf springs and running each leaf through the shot peening machine they have on site.  Removed all of the black paint and made them fresh, ready for my own finishing.  I've had them do the same to used front and rear springs with great results.

May question is response to the OP initial post. At least for me I would want to see what finish you are working with before suggesting on how best to preserve or improve the look of the finish.
