1969 GT500 front shock absorber install direction
« on: January 19, 2025, 12:52:24 AM »
Were the front shocks (the white Shelby ones that started in March 69) installed with the Shelby sticker facing a certain way or just however the assembly line worker felt that day?

The shocks seem to have been installed on the assemblyline in whichever way  the assemblyline  worker felt that day. It is not uncommon to see a concours judged car with the fronts having the sticker facing out so that it can be seen. The restored cars are seen with the backs clocked in every which way however regardless of how they are clocked matching side to side shows the best.

No real reason for them to be clocked to make the label visible and don't think anyone cared, other than to possibly (not saying it happened) to "entertain" some bored worker installing them. Having them visible makes it easier for a judge to mentally check the box for that detail as they go through the judging sheets
