Topic: Blue Paint on Transmission Mount

I am restoring a 70 Boss 302, build date 6/29/1970 at the Dearborn assembly plant.  In cleaning up the transmission mount I have found what looks like Ford Corporate blue engine paint on the mount (See Pictures Attached).  The paint is on the rubber and bare metal portions of the mount and is on the portion of the mount that would have been mated up to the transmission when installed indicating that it was likely put on before the mount was installed.  All research that I have seen indicate that the non-rubberized portions of the mount are not painted.  In addition I am essentially the second owner of the car and the original owner said that the car had not been apart before.  Has anyone seen this before?  Did some mounts get painted?  Is this possibly an assembly line color marking to assist the assembly process?  Is it something I should try to reproduce while restoring?  Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Looking through my collect I don't find another 70 manual transmission mount. Guess you have already looked for the engineering number on the mount and confirmed it might be original to the car. Just a good thing to start with.

Lacking other examples or confirmation it will be up to you to determine if you have enough to reproduce the marking at this point. Good think is its not very hard to replace it if you add it later

The blue on the small block transmission mounts is not unusual.  This photo here shows an original one from an October 1969 built Boss 302 I have on my bench.  The whole entire mount would not be covered in blue, but typically it would be like you see in the photo...

Thanks Marcus - Had not seen that. The dozen or so I have from 70 examples are forest green or red.

Do have a service replacement with green also

The transmission mount on a big block transmission and a smallblock transmission mount are typically different shaped so it is no surprise that they would be marked differently too. Red is a typical color I see marked on the big block trans mount.

Marcus can you tell if the paint was sprayed or brushed on.  As thick as it is and with some of the runs I see on mine I am guessing that it was brushed on.
