Did this combo exist?
« on: November 11, 2024, 06:10:40 PM »
I've got a user in my FB group that has made this statement:

"I owned a 1969 hardtop red Mustang Grande with a Boss 302"

They have been told by several people that combination did not exist and is not taking my word for it. So, What say you that are very knowledgable on the subject?

TIA

Seems that a good percentage of people that own 69 or 70 Mustangs with a F code (302 V8) think they have a Boss 302.

The VIN is likely going to be the quickest way to educate if they are open to listening. 5th digit in the VIN would be a "G" if it were a real Boss 302.  But to your original question carlite65 is correct according, as far as I've seen or heard factory records.

Guessing by the quote this is all memory and recall so take that for what it is worth

How about a Grande with a blacked out hood? I'm doubting that as well as the Grande was not a performance model. I stated that maybe they had one, but it did not come from the factory that way. The person no longer has the car, but is looking for a picture of one that was just like theirs.

I found one in orange!!

Your fishing on Reddit or even Facebook for pictures of what people claim are original cars?  Must have a lot of free time  :)

I really doubt that a Grande was originally ordered with the Mach I or Boss hood treatment but Kevin Marti could tell you for sure. Only cost a few $$'s

Doesn't appear to be a Grande. Now we're just stretching very little there that appears restored and surely we can find examples in just about every color of the Rainbow. That discussion would better fit IMHO in the Lounge here or on VMF  ::)

Please move this to the Lounge. The user has finally accepted that her car may not be original.  :-)
