NOS Air Cleaner Assembly
« on: October 24, 2024, 02:51:26 PM »
Wanted to share a few photos that a friend of mine sent that shows an NOS air cleaner assembly that was dated 1968 (on the box).  A couple things from what I see in these photos....it shows the type or air cleaner  being supplied during this time frame (round holes in the screen) and also the asbestos like material that was glued to the inside bottom of the air cleaner lid.  Have never seen that before.  This may be related to the idea that Ford was spraying black on the inside of the air cleaners and possibly this was some sort of fuel or fire retardant material so maybe this was a different way of doing that...curious if anyone else has ever seen that.

Have seen the pad on a few 6 cylinder and V8 cars and truck from the late 60's does not seem to be a typical thing done. Wonder if its a service replacement difference in response to a concern or issue yet not identified.  When they are there they are typically (at least the ones I found) black with soot and very degraded
