1968 San Jose GT 390 Heater & Vacuum Hoses
« on: August 16, 2024, 06:47:11 PM »
So I decided that I am going to do my own stripes and stamps on my heater hoses. I was fortunate enough to find some original hoses from Bob G and I am trying to match the correct paint or ink that was used. As you can see in the photo, the new reproduction hose printing is a crimson red color while the original has an orange hue to it. Just trying to establish the correct color to use. I have included some examples of various shades I have experimented with. Just wondering what others are using, assuming I am not the only one to go down this rabbit hole. FYI the 3 bottom photos are comparison to the reproduction hose only, the original hose in top top photo only

I am also planning to stripe my vacuum hoses. While these are reproduction hoses, the ink/paint does not adhere very well, so I was planning to re stripe them. I have tested a few different shades and think that I am close to a match. Even the reproduction hoses seem to use 2 different shades of aqua/green.Has anyone else done this?

Looking for any suggestions and advice.

Thanks

Jack at Dead Nuts On already does a real nice green - white vacuum hose. Used for 67-68 tilt steering.

Those are from DNO. However, the ink on mine are coming off for some reason and I have not washed them or wiped them. I actually have 2 sets. So I am going to do a test to see if I can duplicate the Color and re stripe them and see how it holds up
