Topic: Heater hose elbow - 428

Trying to verify from survivor or original cars if the 68 Cobra Jet engines used a different style heater hose elbow on the intake manifold then what I have pictured here.  There was a C8AZ-18599-A part number for 68 and then a different part number for 69/70 so assume there is a major difference.

If you search on the internet I see there is a reproduction of what people are calling the C8AZ-18599-A part that looks like this....

The curved fitting looks just like mine, except with a much nicer finish.

Mansfield Mustang has a comparison  http://mansfieldmustang.com/03-67.jpg   . The tall hex shaped fitting was used on 67 GT500's.

Looked through my pictures of unrestored 68 FE powered examples. The vast majority (over 80%) had the bent or curved pipe design on them.  Next step would be to see if this was a running change where the part was changed part way through engine production for that model year

Would take a fair amount of effort to post all the pictures of old, crusty and in some cases partial views. Maybe if I can find time a list of VIN's might help convey what I found

Thanks Jeff...I think for now thats all I need.  Seems with everyone I have been speaking with the general consensus is what I show installed on the engine is the most common.
