Front bumper
« on: July 24, 2024, 12:31:32 AM »
In the 67 Body Assembly Manual, Front End Section, Front Bumper All C7ZB, View-B. Part R is 379944-S, when I type that part number in NPD?s website, several hits come up. But is this part I will need for the front bumper guard NPD number 372164-S?

Please don't confuse the NPD computer. The results are what you get (sometimes) when the number you enter just plain ain't there.
Part 379944-S is a valid number, also called out in Ford Car Parts (aka MPC).
I entered 379944-S on my favorite search engine - duckduckgo dot com (I detest Google) - and got several Mustang parts suppliers that "claim" to carry it.

Now it gets to be funny/pathetic/ridiculous/ and not very bright.
The NPD number is 17997-10K. pack of 4 for $5.00. Don't ask why. "It'" happens.

Ah, looks like NPD 17997-10K is what I will need for my 67 front bumper guards then! Think I will only need 2 of them for the front, I don?t think the rear bumper guards get them?

The nice thing about the NPD catalog is they used the Ford basic numbers for their numbering system.  So even though a part might not be the full C7ZZ... at least if you know the basic number for a bumper or other part, should be able to find that searching their catalog.

Not always. The front bumper "cushion/pad/rubber bumper" has a Ford hardware part number of 379944-S, but NPD identifies it as 17997-10k. In the 1975 edition of "Ford Car Parts" (aka MPC), the last entry in text section 176 page 42 for Ford base number 17996-7, Guard, Bumper, refer you to Ford Base Number 17984-5 (pages 40-42) which in turn lists 379944-S as the appropriate rubber thingie.
This may be an "isolated reference circle" incident. I hope so.

I found the NPD stock number yesterday looking in the NPD paper catalog while my desk top computer was updating its software. Paper is good. You can also write notes on it.
