Topic: How to get the correct paint formula with modern components

My car doesn?t have any of the original paint on it so I can?t match it that way. I am trying to match paint code. G, which is medium lime metallic. Does anyone have a modern formula for this paint?

Dave, unless your car has been chemically dipped I am willing to bet you have some original paint.

Regardless, the paint companies should be able to convert the old codes to the newer formulas.

The codes for medium lime poly aka medium Avacado are easy to find

The old Dupont code is 5176

You will probably want to see what brands your painter is willing to spray. Companies like Dupont/PPG are still around in some form

Check out the protected back side of things like headlight buckets, end caps as such and pray that the painter was generous and applied a decent coat of paint in one of these areas.

I?m certain that none of the original paint remains. During its years as a race car, the entire car was bright red. When the car was restored, all of the red paint was meticulously removed and the car was respirated the wrong shade of green. Now we are trying to straighten that out.

1970 Medium Lime Poly is PPG 2152. Should be able to go to any PPG supplier and get the color mixed.:
