1970 Boss 302 Space Saver Spare Tire
« on: July 04, 2024, 01:18:02 PM »
Hello all-

I have Dec 69 Dearborn built 1970 Boss 302.  I have 2 space saver spare tires. I am posting the only differences between the 2.  I would to know which one is the absolutely best one to use for MCA concours judging.  Thanks!

As long as they are both F78-14 and condition is comparable ether should do with no deductions. As far as which one would be the most correct of the two all things being equal ,I would pick the one without the stencil on the tread. Is the heat stamp DOT cypher on the one with the stencil?

The one with the stencil paint on the tread is the one without the dot cypher!  That is what I am unsure about!!

The one with the stencil on the tread is possibly late 70 but more likely 71 and later IMO. I have not found information or anyone to decipher date codes on the space saver.

Thank you!  I was gonna go with the one that didn?t have the big stencil marks but the stamped sidewall on it was making me second guess it.
