AC Spark Plug Brand C6AE PCV
« on: May 09, 2024, 10:41:27 PM »
Pulled this along with PCV and thermactor parts off a 67 Thunderbird 390-4V.  At first I could see the C6AE-6A666-B2 part number, but after some cleanup I noticed that the brand was "AC SPARK PLUG".  I know that it is not uncommon for a supplier will make parts for the "other guy", but I am a bit surprised that they used the Ford part number instead of their generic part number used in cross-reference fashion.

Think you will find examples of AC PCVss on 65 cars - they have been documented on a couple of the unrestored examples in that section of the site.  Same engineering number as the focomo brand of the time

I guess that by 1967 I would have expected Autolite to fulfill all of those needs.  Interesting.

Yes me too. Haven't seen anyone mention this before for 67. Maybe??  service replacements where AC got a contract for providing them a few years after the original stock ran out.

I have had plenty of Autolite parts used for different Mopar applications, but those notes were on the packaging, not on the part itself.  I'm not surprised that AC made a PCV for a 390, but I am surprised that it had the specific Ford part number on it.  That leads me to think that it was purchased from AC by Ford.  You are correct though that we don't know if this is factory original.  It is a pretty common item to be serviced.  Thanks for the feedback.

One example I can think of with the application for non-Fords that was marked on the part would be all the oil filters they made for all kinds of applications.  Think spark plugs would be another

Here's another example from a 1966 Colony Park with AC and cruise control.  390-4V with PCV C5AE-6A666-A, also marked as an AC Spark Plug component.

Two sheet metal style. Different supplier on left - AC on right
