Dan, the double valve stem is a later year evolution 72-74 ? maybe . It is not 1970.

It is my understanding that the so called Double valve stems (fill valve plus relief valve) were installed as part of a BFG safety campaign in 1973+ timeframe. This followed several injuries and fatalities when incorrectly filling the collapsible spare using a garage air compressor as opposed to the canister, and was pushed through by the Federal authorities at the time. BFG filed a patent application in that year and was installing them 1974 onwards, including retrofitting them to existing space savers.

This safety recall was carried out across all makes equipped with BFG collapsible spares (AMX, Mopar etc) not just Ford. Here is a copy of it sent to an AMX owner.

To get back to the original question, you need to look at the wheel rim stamped date code and also any date codes on the tire. The DOT mandated identification number has the last 4 digits as a date code, and started being used in 1971. No DOT number means it is pre-71 and I have yet to find anyone who can decode those numbers.

Interesting thread pattern. Sure does not look like the early years

Wonder if you could get a space saver in a T Bird or Lincoln. With such GIANT trucks can't see much of a need for one.

Yes the odd treads definitely put it in the later 70's or newer applications and yes with such a giant trunk in a T bird or Lincoln there seems little need for a space saver spare when a full size spare would fit with much room to spare.

Your photo shows tire size H78-15. That's a pretty big tire. Maybe a full size Ford or Mercury from the mid 1970's?

I thought the DOT number "506" might be a Julian date but I could not get that number to work out unless 5 stood for 1975, and 06 stood for January 6th?  Seemed a bit of a stretch.  I also see E1 by the valve stem maybe 1981?

I don't think that you will find it goes to s a significant car application. If wanting to know so as to sell it most likely it has the most value to a early Mustang buyer who can't fit a full size spare or doesn't want to take up the space in the trunk for travel related items  in a driven car. I have sold similar SS spares in the past to people not wanting to use their year appropriate SS spare while traveling instead of a vintage appropriate space saver.

I was thinking about selling but then wondered if it would work for my Mach 1.  I have correct space saver for the B2.  Was more curious about what it actually went to more than anything.  I assumed it wasn't a Mustang option at that size but ignorant on all other possibilities.

Thanks all for the responses.

It is likely from something like this........
