Door weather strip channel
« on: March 08, 2024, 03:09:17 PM »
Can someone tell me if the door glass weather strip channel should be up against the quarter window boomerang trim.  The aftermarket channels don't line up with existing holes and I don't have the originals to gauge by.  I just want to make sure I get the positioning correct before drilling new holes.

what body style are you working on? suggest you add your car's info to your signature as many here have done. saves time & provides a better response.

I can't believe I didn't put that in there.  It's a 69 Mach 1.  The area I'm looking at is by the upper pivot of the quarter window.

I just dealt with an after market driver side molding myself.  The repros suck and do not line up with the factory holes.  I was able to use an OEM molding I found but they are hard to get.  Not sure what you are asking about the location of its mounting.  Post a picture.   They run all the way front to back and go past the upper Qtr window bracket with the bracket going through the cut opening.  Again post a pic of what you are wondering about..

Specialed, I need to drill holes for the screws for the window seal channel.  The holes on the repros don't line up and as Stauby38 said the repos due suck.  Regardless of which end of the channel you start with, only about the first three screw holes will line up so new holes have to be drilled. I haven't been able to find originals for sale and I need both sides.
I took a chance and installed the driver's side last night.  I took a picture of the area I was concerned about which is by the quarter window pivot.  Stauby38 maybe you can tell me if it looks correct in the distance between the channel and pivot bracket?   There was no hole where you can see the screw in the picture.  I tried to keep it in line as much as possible but in that area the channel could move a lot inboard and outboard even while keeping the rear most screw hole lined up.

That looks close to where its supposed to be.  i believe you are fine there.    Here is a pass side for sale on ebay if your interested.  Sometimes others come up for sale.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/404758879380    I was able to find a driver side in Indiana at Vale's Classic cars and I was able to use my Pass side OEM.  Its possible they may have a set if you call them as they specialize in rare stuff.   The business is Vale's Classic Cars.   317-462-7705   Ask for Ron.   Good luck
