Hello All,
Is there a area in this site that can explain and decode a Autolite tag? I bought a box of old Ford Holley carbs and there is one tag. I would like to know how to decode it and understand what the letters & numbers mean.

Ron welcome to the site. I don't think there is something posted that decodes all of the Autolite tag information however if you post the information on the tag there are many here that have the Kevin Marti Mustang by the numbers book and Cougar Tag book. Regardless of if Mustang/Cougar application or not someone here may have the application information to help.

Not the best picture, but good explanation of carburetor tag codes.  Someone with access to pdf version of Mannel can probably capture a clearer version of page C-2.

Guy's Thanks for all the replies and information. Deuce, Thanks for the Bob Mannels page. The tag in question is, C9AFU. Below the C9AFU is the letter B. To the right is 9KG. What does all this mean? Are there more pages and information breaking down the letters and numbers on a tag?

If the carb in question has a stamped number on the air horn of C9AF 9510-U then I can a least confirm that it is a service replacement carb for the 428 CJ engine (regardless of car) with automatic or manual or any application in the  700 CFM range.

Sure that "G" is not a "C"?

On period carburetor tags the third place is the week number so "G" doesn't fit that established pattern

Guess if it were made in 1979, 1989 or 1999 then the date coding could have been different for those later years

Sorry, you are correct, the last letter is a C.

I don't have at the moment any close ups of the Autolite tag. Only a handful of pictures of a C9AF-9510-U from a greater distance. Have you done a search on Ebay? Someone may have one up for sale with a tag on it and a picture of the tag in the ad

The C9AF U is great as a parts donor since it is not original on any car because it was created as a generic service replacement for many applications. The base plate, metering blocks ,bowls and many other small parts are valuable to make other 1969 original Cobra jet Holley cars complete and whole again.
