« on: November 28, 2023, 12:56:12 AM »
Hi Guys,
Anyone Know what brand tread/rubber they were back in the day?
Were they Good year? Firestone?

any Idea what other ford vehicle may have used this tire to try and source as a spare tire?

My built date is late 69

Many Thanks?

One heck of a question. Think we'll be lucky to find many original tires still in the trunk then even luckier to have one turned or installed so that we can make out the supplier.

Will see what I can turn up.

Other sources would include Cougars, Torinos, Rancheros or at least that is what first comes to mind

Only found one example with an original E70x14 with the whitewall in my collection and it was a Goodyear.

If your interested in showing the car I would focus on making sure all five tires match so that you don't lose points. If you just want the bragging rights so you can claim you have an original spare tire then I wish you luck finding one that is presentable.

I stumbled onto one at the Charlotte swap meet years ago.  Brand new Goodyear.  Keep looking!

Thats a heck of find Jim with the original wheel tire combo.  Even has an original wheel weight.

As far as tire manufacturer Ford did not use just one brand for generic tires sizes or common tires sizes like the E70-14 you are asking about.  They were using several different vendors to source tires from.  For the high performance tires used on the 15 inch wheels they were more brand specific (Goodyear and Firestone depending which year).

For the tire above, code UN01A09, am I correct that it would decode to June, 1969?
