Radiator Fan
« on: May 06, 2011, 05:18:34 PM »
The build sheet for my 69, 428, 9/19/68 built Sportroof calls for a C9OE-G fan.  That is the engineering number.  I would like to know what markings would be on the fan body and blades.  This fan was also used on the Mercury car line,  Possibly, the big block cyclone, marauder and Cougar.   So if a mustang or a mercury what would the part numbers be ?  Any help,  Thanks,  Brian

Unless you plan on finding a NOS one in the box or ordering a new one ;) the part number might not do you allot of good. The build sheet does provide you with the engineering number (the best way to identify what your looking for) that would be found on the fan itself

Ford must have used this fan for only a short period as I can find no later buildsheets with that fan

Maybe Scott's site can be of use

Thank you Jeff.  I did check with the CJ Registry and Scott's reply was much the same as yours.  Your are correct this fan was in use very briefly.  After some nosing around I think what I am looking for is a fan stamped:

914264  H68  ---    first 6 numbers mean ?    last three-- are the date code
     S-C9OE-G  --- S means  ?     C9OE-G  Engineering number & series/model ?
Other items stamped on the blades would be a stylised Ford logo &  ' H '
On the center section ' FRONT ' and the letters ERX.

I hope this Looks about right?
                                             Thanks,  Brian

I am thinking that I would like to change out the Hayden Flex Fan for a more original looking Fan.  I have been looking and asking for a while now and have not turned up even a whisper concerning the C9OE-G fan.

A question for the Forum and any of you with the resources to check; thoughts on  using a 68 GT C8OE-B clutch/fan on my September 19. 1968 Metuchen 428 ?  Certainly would look more original but how acceptable would it be ?   Thank You.  Brian
