Lower Control Arm Pivot Bolts

Do we have any pictures that show 1966 lower control arms originally installed with the nuts on the pivot bolts, facing the rear?
I know they are suppose to face the front but the evidence on the faces of the attachment brackets of the shock towers indicate
mine were put on backwards at Ford.

(i.e. the nut flanges left scratches in the metal that are larger in diameter than a bolt head would leave.)

The nut should go to the front.  If I remember right, there was a lock washer used behind the nut, so you should be able to determine what way it was installed.

For what it is worth, the pivot bolts on my 66 Dearborn convertible were, like yours Bryan, put in with the nuts at the back. My shop manual does not have a good reference to verify this, but if you go here, http://www.hotrodreference.com/928/1964-1966-ford-mustang-front-suspension-exploded-diagram/ the diagram shows the nuts also at the back. I am also curious to know what was the standard placement to make sure I get it right. My car appears to have had the original lower control arms installed.

The diagram is not a Mustang front suspension.  You can put them on however you want, but the norm is with the nut in front.
