Battery Hold down?

Is this the right battery hold down?  I was planning on bidding on it till it spiked in price.

I was watching too! It's the correct hold down for the heavy duty battery (group 22 IIRC). What makes the one offered "special" is that it has the correct  semi circle "tab" punched in it. This fits into a notch at the base of the battery. Reproductions and the later Ford part don't have this tab (notice the early Ford parts sticker on it)!

BTW, I was surprised at the closing price when I checked on it this morning...$123.00, wow! :o

It's for a 24F battery and is the same as the assembly line piece.  As far as I know, there is no correct reproduction, which is why the piece went for so much.  I would have paid that amount for one.

I tried to buy this one too.  I think Brent was trying to come up with a way to punch this tab in the repro hold down - wish he would!!

I was watching it close myself. I bought one last year @ $65 for my 65 Coupe. I guess I got lucky. Still looking for another for my 66. You just don't see them that often.

Thanks for the further confirmation Bob, though I had no reason to doubt Charles' post. I realized I had swapped the group numbers (which I'm prone to do), and actually went back to correct my original post but Charles had already posted his reply! He's quick on that keyboard! ;D  I am fully aware that particular (short) hold down is for the larger case, heavy duty, group 24 battery (and conversely the hold down for standard duty, or group 22 battery is the long one). I stated the Ebay hold down referenced by the OP was for the heavy duty battery in my reply.

One reason I specifically used the term "heavy duty", is knowing I frequently swap the group numbers. It's a 50/50 shot to get the group number correct, and half the time I mix them up! ::) My '66 fastback originally came with the heavy duty battery, which was determined from (fortunately!), locating a copy of the build sheet! Thanks for your comments though.

I just wanted to make clear the difference between the two hold downs for you and others who my be reading since I and others can only go by the thoughts you put down in a post and not what you meant to write. I thought there may be some confusion with the heavy duty statement and 22 group all in the same sentence. I am glad to understand you do know the difference. Bob

Well, after reading this, I went and got mine.  The OE one is still here!  I was about to chunk it and get a repop but now I have changed my mind.

The tab was folded up and broke off when I straightened it... easy fix!

Is the Group 22 F Heavy Duty Battery still being produced ?  Is there any need/demand for the Group 22 Long Clamp ?  Brian
