Topic: 1964 1/2 K Code fuel line

I now have the correct fuel pump for my '64 1/2, and the fuel line that exists is not correct for it I have been told. So what does the correct '64 1/2 K Code file line look like?  Is it the same as any '64 1/2 V8? Anyone have a picture?  Thanks.

Being that the fuel filter is part of the pump, the fuel line is a continuous piece from the pump to the carburetor, running in front and to the right of the distributor. It has screw in fittings at both ends.

What you have is date sensitive. In other words, your build date and/or (partial) VIN may be required to determine in front of, or behind the distributor.

Door tag build date is 08F. Engine assembly is 4F25. My recent MCA Nationals judging sheet says '64 1/2 must be routed in front of the distributor.

That looks to be a true 64 1/2 (I prefer to simply use 64) Mustang HP. It goes in front of the distributor.
Who ever gave you the behind the distributor information, cross them off your social list.

No one did, this is the way it came and the judge indicated it was not correct, I am just interested in which fuel line to buy to replace this one when I change the fuel pump. This is what some vendors are selling, I am wondering if it is correct......

That looks like the right routing fuel line. Go for it.

That date code appears to be a "day one" build for HP Mustangs. Re: "The 289 High Performance Mustang" by Tony Gregory. (I think 4th ed is the latest.)

Thanks, yes I usually order from Brant when he has the part. Yes, it is an early K code, the VIN, also stamped on the block, confirms that too.  It is a great car to drive too.

I was part of a sale to Brant of another "day one" HP Mustang, and I know the "feeling" when I punch it on my 66 K GT Fastback.

Think your going to need to find a fuel line clamp and bracket that is missing in the picture you posted. Did the judges miss that in their judging?

At the moment not certain which version you would be searching for.  Looks like your engine is a June build so that would be the month to use in comparing other examples and styles

Yes, that is part of the fun with these cars, and having a top loader and a 3.89 rear end ratio really makes them fun to drive. I think I saw that car of Brant's on his blog. I still have not gotten a good answer for how many true '64 1/2 K codes are built. One person said 700, I just can't believe that, you hardly ever see one of them. Maybe someday someone will do some actual research and find that out.

Yes, that bracket was noted and I was aware of it before judging, just didn't have time to fix it. I have that bracket now. I have seen a fuel line that goes behind the distributor, like the one I have, and I think the one Brant sells goes in front, which is what it says in the judging sheets it should be, so think I will get that one.  If you have any pictures of one from a June build, let me know. I have seen some non-K codes, so not sure about using that.  I notice the '65 GT350s have a fuel line that looks like the one Brant is selling at Branda, but they have Holleys, so not sure if that would work for an Autolite carb.
