1970 Apron to battery bracket
« on: July 31, 2023, 07:10:28 PM »
I was missing the L  bracket between the apron and battery hold down rod.  I purchased a reproduction bracket from pony-car specialists on ebay.  Although I didn't have an original one to compare it to, it seems like a good reproduction.  It fit well and appeared to be correct with the OEM ribs etc.  The apron screw is from AMK.  The hold down nuts with the integral washers are from AMK. The AMK screw and nuts appear to meet the ford specs.  I am happy with it!  Alan

I was looking at a Boss F/S at Mecum and the L bracket appeared to have a phosphate finish.  Can some confirm the finish?  Thanks in advance.  Alan

I have seen black paint just like the 71 longer battery brackets and have many of them original brackets found in junkyards back years ago. That area is highly corrosive from battery acid filling up batteries 3 times a year in them old original batteries so that bracket would hold up better if painted vs plated i think.
