Just curious what others are using for Floor & Roof Insulation. I am planning to use this material. This is sold by Dead Nuts On for trunk insulation. I had them make me up a few rolls and was going to cut it to size. It appears to me to be the closest to the type of insulation used back in the days out of most of the cars I have seen with original insulation. All feedback would be appreciated

I picked up some roof insulation from West Coast Classic Cougar, the vendor is Repops. Has anyone used this product to similar. Assuming some 3M SUPER 77 would be the ticket to secure it.

For the flooring I've pretty much always been able to use the original or find one from a donor car. Plenty of owners, when doing new carpet are quick to get rid of the original in favor of some expensive fancy new wave stuff

For trunk I've always, when the car needs any, make my own using the same method shown in the article posted in the Library. Not sure if SnakeOyl is still selling the base material we used

As for the roof I use the same light weight fiberglass water heater insulation blanket, Guess I should by some extra with all the pressure of getting rid of gas water heaters in many regions of over all the states.

Just trip off the aluminum layer and a little insulation for thinner layer. Then spray both surfaces  (roof and insulation) with a spray adhesive. Same stuff I use for headliner installation

Here are a few examples of originals. Not always in the best shape after all these years

Thanks Jeff that is very helpful. Reminds me of old home insulation. Probably was pure asbestos back in the day. Many times when discussing various procedures and applications with local friends and builders etc, the typical replies seems to be consistently, "no one is going to see it, so it doesn't make a difference" at which point my ears start burning and I reply, "it makes a difference to me". Most of the time they don't get it!


This stuff looks like it has the right texture, just a different color.It also looks like I have the insulation for the coupe, or perhaps they just make if for the coupe, one size fits all
