NOS / Service replacement trunk lids
« on: July 22, 2023, 10:42:59 PM »
Did NOS /service replacement trunk lids come pre-drilled for the emblems or were they blank to fit a number of different applications?

Been a while since I've seen a service replacement coupe/convertible or fastback trunk lid but I don't think there were predrilled for the rear MUSTANG letters especially those made in the years following the production year. Maybe someone else has one that can confirm this detail and provide when the trunk lid was made so that you can compare that detail

There was actually two versions of DOZZ decklids that were serviced.  With and without the holes in them for the letters MUSTANG.
Remember, the Mach 1 did not have the letters MUSTANG on the rear decklid so didnt need those holes predrilled.

Is that for Sportroof/fastback or couple/convertible? Or both trunk lids?

I was thinking that non-Mach replacements might have been pre-drilled, otherwise there would be a lot of Mustangs out there with stick-on letters as a result of rear-end collisions.

Information I mentioned is for the fastback.  For the coupe/convertible only one style of decklid since there was no Mach1 version for that.
I put something together on this a while back:
