Fastback/sportroof rear seat cushion "piano wire" question
« on: July 12, 2023, 05:54:16 PM »
Does anyone have a picture of the burlap in the rear seat with the wire that runs through the burlap? I have seen a lot of front seats but nothing for rear?

Pete

Not a 69 like your car of interest but a 67 rear back of seat.

I left it large so you drill in on the wires.

thank you, does anyone know if the upper seat back for a fold down have the "piano wire" and the burlap originally?

Don't believe or recall ever seeing these used on the thin and narrow upper cushion on a 67=70 fold down seat section

The upper seat back (the flat one) on the fold down does not have the burlap and wire (on a 65-67). It has a 3/4x3/4 (approx -- I'll measure tomorrow) square mesh.
I'll check the 65 out to see what it has tomorrow.

I pulled out my 65 Fold-down seat and see it still has the part number on the back side of the seat (the flat seat part).

The mesh is 0.5x0.5 center to center of the wire mesh. It's approx 0.040 thick.
The padding is actually foam. This matches what's on my 67 as well. My 70 does not have a fold-down.

The seat bottom has the burlap with wire.

(added the term fold-down on my last two
posts for clarity)

Thanks for saving me the time to post basically the same picture from other years. Exactly what I've seen up to at least 70 models

Was there a Batting material between the seat foam and the cover.

Don't believe there was on the upper cushion. Bottom seat section did
