4-Speed Speedometer Cable & Cross-Member
« on: July 03, 2023, 02:04:54 PM »
Application = 1970 Dearborn-built 428 CJ Mach1 4-speed

Does the speedometer cable exit the toploader case and (a) make a VERY sharp bend towards the firewall -or- (b) pass through the opening in the transmission cross-member before bending forward towards the firewall?

My original cable has a wear mark in the jacket at about a location I believe would coincide with option (b) above, yet I am not certain of this.

Thanks.

Thanks for the details on your car. In this case its not a engine size related detail but a top loader one.

Yes I've seen and have a few in pictures where the cable is routed between the two "arms" of the bracket on that side of the car/transmission

1970 Mustangs with toploaders and the Drag-Pak route theirs differently due to the adapter at the transmission which is basically a 90 degree adapter. This makes a difference in the routing of the attaching cable
