Bolts at radiator support
« on: June 25, 2023, 11:58:25 PM »
For a Dearborn car-there are 5 bolts just forward of the radiator cap that attach the radiator bracket and hood latch. Please describe the correct  fasteners.
1968 CJ - Owner and paint original. Dec 67 build in Dearborn. One of 50 135 Cobra Jets. Ford engineering used it for 8 mos. to resolve problems in the 50 early car build. Ford by-passed the normal sign off to get cars to the Winternationals drag race.

As you are new to the Forum, I recommend you look in the library section under topic "Mustang Hardware Spreadsheet 67-68". You will find two Excel based files, one by part number ("MHW67-68PN06" - the 06 is the revision) and one by where the item is used, aka Application (MHW67-68AP06). There are over 2900 sorted  entries. Enjoy.

Welcome to the site. Hope you find the information and support to make your concours related endeavors successul

See from your other post you have a December 67 built Dearborn car. Is this the one your asking about in this thread? If you have looked around you will notice that when and where are very important when asking, discussing and answering. Invite you to consider adding the details to your signature like many have to make it easy and not have to retype it with every question.

I looked through my collection of pictures but didn't find any that were clear enough or good enough to provide head markings to help you. The center for the hood latch and the two outer ones appear to have been originally zinc or cad in finish. Even checked the Cougar pictures for some help but no luck

Maybe someone else with a Dearborn car built around your cars production period can help

I believe these are the correct bolts that were originally holding the radiator support on my 68 Dearborn CJ. Four of the bolts have a S with an underline and a I below, one has an anchor symbol. The three bolts below the support all have the S and I.

Thanks. For the record and for those comparing when was your car built?

A page from the "AMK Products Guide To Ford Fasteners, 1955-73" concerning head markings. The under lined "S" is actually a grade 5.1 bolt, and the one in drawing, Type 41, is possible up side down
Jim
Plus you will find the complete three pages listed in the Library, on page 2, titled "Bolt Head Markings Tables".
