Rear view mirror
« on: May 04, 2023, 06:48:30 AM »
Hi Fellas,
Trying to distinguish if my rear view mirror is original.
Can anyone confirm this please?

Thanks

Looking for possibly a picture of an original but believe the one you have is a replacement of some form. The twist arm on the bottom should be a toggle style instead from what I'm finding and recall from other 70's if I recall correctly

Found a couple - sorry the pictures are better but clearly show the toggle (front to rear) dimmer

It appears to be so.
Have discoverd this  also from research. square mount with toggle and lever silver of sorts.

However "made in USA" is interesting to me hence why I thought it was original.
Thank god I did not go through the troubles of restoring this!!

If anyone knows this "made in USA" came from - that would be appreciated.

Can't think of many things that were made by Ford and assembly line that had Made in US or USA on them. A few parts supplied did but not Ford. At the moment only shocks made by Gabriel (and even then only half or so of what they produced) had similar wording

Thought I had posted, in another thread, a close up of the arm finish from mount to mirror but can't find it at the moment

Posting some photos here so you can see the details of the day/night toggle and also the stem from mirror to base....

Is that hard plastic at the back or vinyl?

The "made in USA" mirror at the top - any idea? if its a ford item?

No idea what the mirror could be from.  Given enough time and effort you can probably search Ebay or the internet and eventually figure it out.  Its just not a 1970 Mustang mirror for sure.....
