Hi all,

I am looking for the finish of the automatic transmission inspection plate and engine block plate to transmission.

The inspection plate was bare metal with no blue overspray please?

The engine block plate was installed on the engine block with no starter and then were painted together with the engine please? They had overspray blue on the side of the engine please?

Bought for a 67 Shelby GT500 automatic.

Engine plate was attached to the engine block when the engine was painted so like small blocks the plate would have received direct application of engine blue to the edges and cut outs that the block did not protect from the spray along the top and sides while at the bottom the forward facing surface would have received blue paint directly as the painter tried to spray and cover the block and oil pan completely and try not to full cover the area where the starter would attach to insure a good ground when its attached later. So on the face you would typically see a nice coat at the upper edge of the plate where it meets and since the plate does not extend much pass the bottom rear edge of the block it was  typically pretty much fully painted along that edge.

If you don't paint it it will stand out and can be seen from just about any angle if someone looks

Remember these spray guns put out allot of paint and allot of over spray and originals we see today are likely missing 50% of the paint that they originally had due to age, cleaning and the elements.

If you don't paint it it will stand out and can be seen from just about any angle if someone looks

Reworded a section of my reply after reminding myself how little of the plate is exposed on the face

Inspection cover is semi-gloss black on all surfaces
