I have not seen one for sale in many years of parts buying and selling and think the chances of finding one NOS are very very slim.. If you can find one that is great but I would not have any unrealistic expectations. I think a better approach would be to try and modify a non emmission tank using a used donor Evap emission tank as a basis to start. Since the top is covered with the trunk mat at least you should be able to come up with something that looks the part at least from the portion that you can see. That would be a more reasonable expectation to achieve. FYI in concours we are given a directive to not left up trunk mats so as to lesson the chance of damage. It is big No No.

Thanks for the advice. Not sure if a non emission tank is any easier to find! 🥶

Hello John - I have a 70 Mustang Evap Tank from a Coupe Mustang out of California, on a scale of 1 to 10, I say it's about a 7, of course
that's in the eye of the beholder, if you are interested email me at kcorwin@pacbell.net and I can send you some pic's for you to view

I didn't understand that you were doing a thoroughbred restoration where only NOS or excellent used will do. It read like you had novice unrealistic expectations with your request for a unicorn is why I offered another alternative. I would not pass up a nice used unit because it may be a long wait for a NOS one. I hope I am wrong. Best of luck with you search.

Not sure its going to be a thoroughbred, but I would try!

Do know they are hard to get, but if you do not ask you would not find anything. 🫣

Thanks.

John.....is there any evidence that your ARI car came with the Evap emissions system since you have owned it?  Is there brackets welded inside the trunk area?  None of the other Pace Cars had this system so wondering if Ford really had to add this for a race car even if it was being used in Riverside California.  Just curious what you have there and what the Marti Report says.

Marcus

When I bought it, you could see traces of the trunk bracket where it was welded. It was broken of. The gas tank is the evap tank, but was missing a number of the surrounding parts. In some of the boxes of parts that was in the trunk I found parts of the evap system, so yes I am quite sure it had it.

You are right. Even my papers says that none of the other cars had it

John...yes thats a difficult question to answer.  The paperwork shows it was ordered that way so probably this car had it installed.  Strange for a car that would not really be driven on the street.  I am sure the actual race cars on the track would not have this emission system.
But anyway, based on what I see I would be adding it like you are.

Yes if the car was delivered to Calif originally then it would have had the emission system. What the owner planned to do with the car had no bearing on how it was delivered or configured as a complete built car.

And of course we're not talking about a race car here just a pace car of sorts. Much different things :)

Allot of the NOS tanks got tossed in decades past. No real interest in them, easily dented while in storage and moving them around and bulky to store
