Air Conditioning Compressor Clutch decal
« on: March 05, 2023, 09:56:11 PM »
Need help with the placement of the A/C Compressor CLUTCH decal (C7AA-2987-D, sticker)   Never seen one in captivity.  On face of clutch?   Along the outer edge?
Thanks Al

What kind of pump are you using? York (aluminum) or Tecumseh (cast steel)?

Should have some pictures of both from 69-70. Will look and post

I will be interested in Jeff's pictures because I have only seen those stickers on service replacement parts in the past.

The sticker in question is seen on the clutch so rather then a specific compressor the sticker would have to do with the type of clutch . Field coil or brush type. Both types of compressors were used on both types of clutches.

As far as I can find the statement or understanding is correct. I've only been able to find them on service replacements or kits built the same year. For some reason ones placed in kits and on shelves that same year had them. Of course have seen restored cars with them possibly as a results of seeing NOS pieces or those that assumed they were present on the cars originally. Must be the same reason the labels (some of them) have been reproduced and sold by vendors

And while your at it resist using the red and white battery terminal warning label and caution fan sticker that invariable gets lumped into the label/decals sets.  I feel that they are just as useless for your application.

As mentioned may times before here. Just don't buy the "decal kits" most places sell. Instead choose high quality individual ones that match your needs. Yes a little more cost and effort but no one said this would be cheap or easy :)

And then there is the pride than comes with a job well done.  ;)

My $0.02 worth is that I have an October 29th Dearborn unrestored mach with a Tecumseh compressor and field clutch with no sticker or any indication that it ever had one. Doesn't mean it never did, but usually some witness marks exist even for stickers.
