I read all the threads about axle housing markings. None of the threads seem to apply to mine. After soaking mine in Evaporust, no markings were visible. Was a 3 digit written on the flat on the bottom? Was there a stripe around the right tube, or a number on the front of the right tube? Was there a big "X" on the back of the center housing?
As I stated on another thread, the 3rd member was out of a 67 car. Dang! The only non-original major part I've found on the car. It had evidence of light blue where the yoke meets the pinion carrier and yellow paint on one ear of the yoke.
I would like to "simulate" the "possible correct markings" if someone would suggest some.
The transmission slip yoke/driveshaft/and rear end all had light blue marks. I'm thinking this is for standard, C-Code, Non handling package parts. I would guess the leaf spring U-bolts would have lite blue stripes, and possibly the leaf springs.
