First welcome to the site. Hope you find the support and information helpful in your restoration.

Guess your asking about paint marks. Is that correct.

Standard Consideration: Paint marks should be the last concern in a restoration after you have made sure your parts are exactly like originals or originals, finished correctly with all the right hardware and details. Paint marks do not "make up" for installing poor reproduction parts or non-factory finishes instead they will draw the eye to these defects and poor choices. Very few judging venues require paint marks so in most cases not required but incorrect markings in those same classes that don't require them do open and owner to deductions if they are incorrect for the car and application. Positive thing is that many of the marks can be applied later if your unsure or looking for confirmation, have a concern that maybe one or more you see might not be correct for you.  With that said we progress.

Will need more information about your car than what you have provided

Will need
- transmission type,
- when the car was completed,
- AC and or PS?
- Rear spring engineering numbers will reduce the need to guess at those markings

Think that will do it for your first posting and question here. Again welcome

The components will be restored to accurate representations of what came on the car. Having said that:

Transmission - X (FMX)
Build Date - 06/70
Power Steering

I don't know what the rear spring engineering numbers are. Any help there?

Thanks!

Guess you don't have a buildsheet for the car

Did the 6/70 come from the door sticker or from a Marti report?

Yes the U bolts and hardware are not factory

Thanks for the pictureJCarlite65. The springs are undercoated and I am not at liberty to scrape it off at the moment. Is this information critical?

No but we may not able to provide the original paint marks due to that and why the need for paint markings if the springs are painted or coated?   Just had to ask  :)

Basic 70 H Code Mach I with PS and no AC ID marking colors

Center steering link - Yellow
Pittman arm - Yellow
Idler arm (not the bracket) - Yellow
Drivers side tie rod outer - Green
Passenger side tire rod outer - Yellow
Front sway bar - 1 green and 1 yellow
Front springs - 1 Gold & 1 Tan
Rear springs - 2 yellow & 2 brown stripes at the shackle end on the long leaf
Driveline (front to rear) - Chartreuse, Lavender, White
Front shocks - White
Rear shocks - Violet

Rear sway bar - Don't know for certain and don't have any any examples. Different from other applications that year

Please look at other threads and the article in the library as to how these colors were applied and typically where. Its one thing to know the colors and another how and where they were applied. Have seen some really poorly applied examples at shows over the years and those cars received deductions for those details if showing in one of your focuses. Even if its not others may and possibly unwisely copy what they see on your car so you should be aware of that and the responsibility that goes with it.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the information and photo Jeff. Before I strip back the undercoating on the rear leaf springs, do you know if an 8 inch rear end is correct for H Code?

As Carl wrote above the 9" rearend is what was suppose to be installed on a Mach I with an H code engine. Of course there are sometimes oddities but they are just that.

An example of a H code Mach I I have a picture of

The rearend tag reads as follows:

wcz - v1
2.79 8EA 930

I'm not sure sure what the 930 number is about, but this rearend is categorized as 67-70 Mustang The door tag is 3.00 which is not available 8 inch.

The 930 was the identification code for the completed rearend. It would also be listed, by that code on the car's buildsheet

Looking though buildsheets I found the 930A listed for 70 Mustangs with F codes with C4's

Just checking but did you get a Marti report for the car and did it confirm that it was originally a Mach I?  Just going down the list of things to check.

The Marti Report was supplied by the previous owner and it indicated Mach 1 ( I attached the report previously). Things are pointing towards the rear end having been substituted in but the previous owner had the car for 16 years and claims he never changed it. :-)

Thanks for your help!
