1967 Hipo Air Cleaner Base
« on: November 22, 2022, 01:13:07 AM »
Hello, I have a late 1967 K Code Coupe built in Metuchen and was an export car.  What type of Air Cleaner base did they come with?  Were they all open system bases with a small nipple coming out of New Jersey or did it vary at all between open and closed system bases depending on the DSO sent to or exported?  See attached.  Would this possibly be correct for a Metuchen built car that was exported?  Please send pics if you have them of what would be correct if this is not. Let me know your thoughts.  Thanks.

NOTE: we've converted and added the two pictures in a more friendly format  :)

Can you attach pics the normal way?
The HEIC format requires downloading (on my tablet) and raises security concerns.

I can't open your pictures. The typical 67 Hipo style  open emission base has the small 1/8 nipple and rubber cap from my experience. I have not seen any document or personal observation by myself or others evidence to suggest it was plant ,DSO or export related. With that said I am sure that there were anomalies out there somewhere.  As it relates to 67 Hipo I have only seen the large nipple closed style base used in a original undisturbed context on thermactor equipped cars .

The .heic format is subterfuge on the part of Apple.  The pictures are .jpg format hiding in plain sight.  No converter required, simply rename filename.heic to filename.jpg.  Windows will attempt to assure you the world will end, but it won't.

Thanks for reviewing, much appreciated!.  I converted the pics to pdf, I couldn't convert to JPG files.  Let me know if this works.  See attached.  I looked at my Marti report and it doesn't mention the options "Closed Crankcase Emission System" or "Exhaust Emission Control." Does this mean my car was definitely a small nipple air cleaner base?

It means that the small nipple base is typically what would have been used.

Some pictures of a small nipple air cleaner base that has been posted in other threads. Ignore the color of course since its from another application. Sam base - different car.
