1966 Tie-Rod Sleeves 6 cyl
« on: November 04, 2022, 09:08:56 PM »
I have NOS pair of Tie-Rod sleeves that I was thinking of using but when I measured my original sleeves and these NOS sleeves they were longer by 1/2 inch.

My original sleeves are almost 6 inches
My NOS sleeves are 6-1/2 inches

My other assumption could be that the NOS sleeves were for Falcon only and needed to be longer for that suspension.  Can the NOS still be used or will that ruin the suspension geometry.

If they can be used I'll restore them to natural steel.

I have a pair that I restored for a customer several years back (his offspring totaled the car). The sleeves measure 5 13/16 inch long. The four bolts on mine are Grade 8 without a head marking. I see yours are grade 5.

I have no idea if the original bolts were grade-5 or grade-8.  My original sleeves are still installed and need take a picture of them... I noticed my original sleeves have light pitting all over.  Soon I'm be trying to remove the aftermarket suspension and install assembly line suspension.
