I just copied the paint marks as they initially were.  Probably that worker was careful.  Took me one minute to do the stripes.  1/2 inch stripes as I measured them.  Mine are almost 3/4.

If you cut the time to 5 seconds it will look a lot better.

yep. when recreating items like this try to place yourself in the installers mind set. you have just so much time to complete the task. do it once & then don't fudge with it. same theory goes for most parts installations.

For the correct atmosphere, take a sip of coffee while "painting", with a lot of background noise of course.

Just depended on how hard he pressed the brush and in turn how much the bristles spread. IN general there was not allow of pressure produced since it was a quick pass and pressing would slow down the process

Will the springs get points taken off the way they look with the paint stripes being too perfect.

Would depend on how visible and the judge. Most likely if they were going to they would more likely just make a written comment. Or at least that is what I would expect.

In the class your likely entering you don't have to have paint marks but if they are incorrect then you are open to deductions. SO it depends entirely on the judges in the teams knowledge, experience or what they may have picked up here :)
