1969 antenna ID
« on: June 28, 2022, 09:55:29 PM »
I recently acquired this from eBay as a buy it now auction for $35. Seller stated it was an unused new concours antenna. When I received it, I am seeing a "Fomoco" cast on the antenna base and stamped on the cable. The push retainers look to be in the correct position also?? Thoughts if this is a repro or original? Condition is mint.

I don't know why but I have seen short and long. They made an extension that I have seen on ebay once in awhile.  They now make a repo of it.

Thank you Marcus. Never thought to look through your site for this.

So the antenna matches a Mustang antenna, especially the base. It has the round mast but tear drop base. The Fomoco cast markings and stamping on the antenna (#6 - 473) are present. But, the base gasket looks to be for a Cougar, and is marked C9WA. I have a package with the base cap and screws but the cap is not ink stamped. From your pics it is safe to say this looks top be a NOS Ford antenna, which is awesome. Now I just need to get the correct gasket to fit the fender and we will be good. My son is not in search of NOS parts for his Mach, but with "correct" repros around $95, he is pleased with this find.

Thanks to everyone for helping with this!

Curious, is the bottom supposed to be able to be pulled out of the base?  And I noticed the yellow stripe down the cable. Would there have been one type used across all plants? or variations between the plants/suppliers?

Likely there was more than one supplier so we can get variations. Different plants were typically supplied by a major supplier but the other maker could have some of theirs routed to the other plant at times. So this is where we get what is typically found on cars from a particular plant and the odd ball ones normally found at other plants that we discuss here on the site about some other details.

Antennas were installed a the dealerships though they were included with the cars when shipped.

The nos c9zz antenna kit came with both cougar and mustang rubber adapters mounts since the antenna was the same for both cars just the black adapter was different angle because of the fender shape and ford serviced only the mustang number for the cougar also.

I was wondering why there was two rubber bushings.
