2701966 Solenoid with round FoMoCo logo?
« on: May 23, 2022, 01:59:12 PM »
When or where was this Solenoid used? I've never seen a 2701966 66 solenoid with the round FoMoCo logo? They say it's original to the 1966 convertible they have.

Thanks,

Jason

I don't think a brown body 2701966 is likely to be original on a '66 car.

As we've discussed before in another thread the brown body identifies these as likely originals from before 65 production started. Could/can be found in the NOS/service replacement channels

Not IMHO, based on original unrestored cars, for a 66 Mustang built in Feb 66 at San Jose. Very likely added/change because it was different or "cool"

By the last months of 66 production at San Jose they were using the C6 versions as shown in the other thread which was two-three versions after the brown style or more

Information is available in the running change thread and the focused thread below

Yeah, this isn't my car and pretty much figured this was either a service replacement or switched at some point. Just hadn't see the round FoMoCo logo on these before.

Thanks for the info and responses.

You'll find the Oval design with the black bodies used at San Jose through about 5R160000-200000 approximately, when it was replaced by the rectangle style based on the pictures and examples I have. Note that the upper left example has a slightly smaller "2701966" number than typical examples for some reason.
