Early Build 66 San Jose Coupe Question
« on: May 22, 2022, 02:09:43 AM »
A friend in our neighbourhood bought a Red 66? coupe locally a year ago, I was over tonight looking it over, it?s quite an early build,
6R07T101665
August 26

Would that place it second/third day of production?

No way of telling could be first day or 30 days later. Allot of things went into determining production order of a specific car

Have a few pictures of a couple of other 66 San Jose cars with the same projected/scheduled date

The "earliest" scheduled Mustang built in San Jose was on the 16th (a Monday, 6R07C100001, probably a "test" assembly car) of August. The majority of scheduled builds started on the 23rd, a Monday in August 1965. That week looks to have almost 1000 CARS scheduled (there were cars other than Mustangs built in the San Jose plant). San Jose typicall produced about 800 cars a week.
6R07T101665 was scheduled for a Thursday, the 4th day of production, still very early.

Well that paints a clearer picture, I forgot that they didn?t build Mustangs only on that line, so variables are quite acceptable, well I?ll let the owners know this anyways, it?s amazing how dispersed these cars got, it?s here in Whitehorse, Yukon , also home of the second production Mustang built. The Caspian Blue Coupe.

+1 Or at least the car assigned that VIN. Not sure how many operators they were using at the time to enter orders at San Jose
