door scuff plate accessory
« on: May 21, 2022, 02:34:18 AM »
Hi all,
I stumbled on these on npd site.

From what I read - this could have been bought over the counter back in the day?
Has anybody installed these?

https://www.npdlink.com/product/plate-set-door-scuff-accessory/100122?year=1970

Concern? is there exposure from side view?

Check wcc video - not too sure I like it from side view? 14:39

Thanks in advance?

Added them to a car 30 years ago. Yes they can be seen when the door is closed from the outside. Kind of distracting IMHO

Not sure they really did much as far as protecting given that we don't drive these cars as often as they did originally and we likely take allot better care when entering and exiting

Also not sure how well they would fit on a 70 Mach I with the side cladding

There was a similar pair of these plates on a 66 GT Fastback when I bought it. When I removed them, I could see why they were installed. The paint on the lower outside edge of the door frame was chipped and the plates covered them. They went back on. I was not ready to repaint the entire car.

Ok  I am interested in this item however I also found a rocker panel filler item which was standard equipment from the factory.

Mine is missing and will def source this item.

https://www.npdlink.com/product/filler-door-opening-rocker-panel/196382?backurl=search%2Fproducts%3Fsearch_terms%3D0101b62-1a%26top_parent%3D200001%26year%3D

This being the case - Can these 2 items exist together? or is it a case of 1 or the other?

here is another photo of its location

Thanks Jeff - the link above confirm NPD has it (more expensive than muscle car research.Muscle car research cant ship to australia. Pity

NPD can but I will have to pay.

Can anyone confirm you can install this together with the scuff plate accesory i.e polished stainless steel, covers the area between the scuff plate and the outer rocker panel protecting the paint

Thanks
