Headliner Color
« on: April 18, 2022, 03:13:01 PM »
I have a 1967 Fastback with 2K interior code.  Should the headliner be light aqua or dark aqua?

Thanks

Looked but it appears I don't have a picture of a coupe or fastback from 67 with that color interior and of the headliner.

It's most likely the lighter of the two and will match the visors like what was done on blue and green interiors. Maybe someone else owns an unrestored that can confirm

Hi Jeff,

I do know the sun visors are original to my car and the lighter color.  I guess this answers my question?

Thanks
Shawn

After wading thru the maze of the the 60-68 Ford Car Parts book (aka MPC) I determined two things, light aqua is probably the color shade - remember the number 57, there are color patches to refer to. If you want to wade thru this maze, you will have to use the 75 edition of the MPC, copies of which are in the library - LOOK IT UP - Ford base number 51916. However, I don't think there are color patches in the 75 edition.
(The other "thing" is to make a Brandy Manhattan to assist you in your search. Wading thru the MPC can be educational, frustrating and a pain.)

See the attached.  Since this was from a scan, albeit a very good one (commercial with high resolution), when you consider rendering via computer monitor the interpretation of color can be dicey.

That said, if you compare the headliner color (57) to the other colors used in the 2K interior (55 & 56) you can tell that it is SIGNIFICANTLY lighter.

The same was true for my 2B interior, and since I had the original, I can attest to that the headliner was a perfect match to the sunvisors.  I can also inform you that the new headliner I procured had to be resprayed to have a proper color match.  I spent more on the paint/dye than the headliner.

That's the page.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone.

Should the carpet be light or dark aqua?  I personally replaced the carpet 40 years ago with light aqua.  I kind of recall the original may have been dark aqua but liked the appearance of the light instead and made the switch at that time.

Thanks
