Hi Guys (if you have been following on 428cj) ...I've started to make right what I didn't wrong in restoring my car 15 years ago!!!

Links are dead and photos are gone (for most/not mine and I didn't pay photobucket)!   REVIVING this topic https://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=4689.msg26391#msg26391

I'm almost positive the end result of Jeff's photos back then was that SJ cars man not have gotten the "clips" Jack now sells for the front valance.   When I did my car I didn't use them.   Have we learned anything new in 12 years??

Mark

I will repeat what I have reported before.  My 3/69 unrestored SJ car had the zip ties and not the plastic retainers/clips.

Perfect !  I knew I had seen this and WHY doing my 4/22 car didn't use them!

It's funny I told Gary "I was very honest showing I didn't have a front valance when I got my car" (As well as stating it had a 351C)!    This is why there is a ZZ service valance and the number is showing.

Glad you saw this and GLAD i didn't ask on FB !  LOL

Mark
P.S.   It is also why I didn't restamp the block ...in my case I SAID I didn't have it.  (Others are restamping POORLY and claiing they did!)

Per the "1969 Mustang Electrical Manual" (AM0028 pg 3) the Ford part number is 351453-S, strap, 2 required. However, the manual has the incorrect Ford part Number. It should be 351053-S. It is carried by AMK.
It is a legitimate use, just poorly documented.
Get a set of the Assembly Manuals for your car. You can thank me later.

Adjusted the title and moved the thread over to the General 69 Section since that is where the Dearborn discussion thread on the subject is also

Will look through my pictures again to see if I have anything new to offer. right now (bit off thread) not many have the zip ties so far. Will report back

Jim. What date is on that revision page and does it show the zip tie?

Doesn't the rubber sleeve come into play with the wiring and zip tie?

In what way?

If your thinking of it keeping the rubber sleeve in place its too far towards the frame for that. In other years there is a small weld bead that holds the sleeve up towards the outer end. Don't recall at the moment if 69 has that added detail

Zip tie appears (and when used) to hold the marker light up out of the way

The page is dated 10-16-68 and the Ty-Rap is item 27 (to the right of center in the middle, the page is not a good copy). No installation instructions are given (as in loose, snug, use tool, etc).

Just thought we should clarify and identify the wire retainer I believe we are discussing in this thread

Dearborn not a San Jose unrestored car

Only found a couple of cars where I still had the fenders installed on the car and pictures of that area. Not wire retainer/clip at marker

9R131xxx Approx first part of Nov 68

9R175xxx Approx first part of May 69

Yes those are the clips Jeff.
9R02M123247 was my car that had them but no zip ties so perhaps they were substituted as a quick and easy alternative to the clips.

Since we have at least one other plant using the clips and the zip ties  and they are in different sections of the wire I don' think that one replaced the other. Since you have an earlier car than the rest guess we need to find some additional earlier ones to see if this is a running change - used them at the beginning of production then, for some reason, they weren't

Hunt goes on
