68 marker Lt. retainer
« on: March 08, 2011, 09:20:25 PM »
Does anyone know what finish was used on the marker light retainers? Mine are surfaced rusted but under the nuts it looks like it may have been phosphate. Marty

Marty, I looked for the correctly plated (ZD) in reproductions about a year ago with little result - all were cad plated.  Finally found the correctly plated retainers at a Mustang shop in Kentucky.  May have been Kentucky Mustang or something like that.  Talked to the owner and he was super nice and helpful, knew just exa tly what we were talking about.  Fred B. put me on to him and may chime in with the correct name and addy.  If not I will try to dig up the ticket.  Fred, can you help?

Thanks, Fred.  The retainers I purchased from KyMustang were plated in ZD, and the price and shipping was great!
Marty, hope this saves you some searching around for the retainers.

Thanks for the help. I have bought stuff from Duane before, and yes he is a good guy. I have my retainers so I will have them plated with some of the stuff I missed on the first round. I guess it makes sense that it is zinc dichromate as is the park turn light retainer. Marty
