The 1969 and 1970, upper console plate (attaches directly on top of the base) casting number C9ZB-65044E70-AW (Engineering number 044D90 in MPC) for both years. I see no difference between the years. My guess is that the casting number stayed the same, because of the mold. The Engineering number changed to the D0.. part number due to a manufacturing location change to Canada, and additional colors? That's my WAG.

Several combinations of "Top Finish Plate" (MPC name) or "Console Shift Plate" (Scott Drake name). One or two plates attach to each other. One for base Mustang with pebble grain. Two plates, with various woodgrain inserts. Walnut, Teak, or Burl.
Teak and Walnut for Mustang IDG, Mach 1, or Grande. Walnut for Standard Cougar, Burl for XR7 Cougar.
I have most of the casting numbers, basic part number is 04567, for each.

Jeff, he's just saying the plastic portion has the cutout. The metal portion that is laid over the top would have a cutout in 69 but not in 70 (as your pic show).

Thanks

Ok now seeing that we were sort of talking past each other using same terms for different sections of the assembly
