Original dashpot for Autolite carburetor differences
« on: January 05, 2022, 02:51:09 PM »
Have 2 dashpots.
They look different. Eg. length of tread and lettering.
May be both are repop.
How looks an original?

There were a fair number of these made fro different applications and a number of them look very close to one another. Two shown below -

Just what I have handy at the moment

Likely made by an outside supplier so over the counter parts store dashpots could be found that look identical to these just boxed differently

The length of the plunger as well as the thread length varied with application.

It looks like all Ford V8 applications thru 1967 that specify a dash pot use a C1AZ-9B549-A (locator CD6). There were no measurements or details listed in the 75 ed Ford Car Parts (aka MPC).

Most of the reproductions had a full diameter plastic "disc" at the spring-plunger end.
