1970 Dearborn tag light
« on: December 30, 2021, 09:09:28 PM »
I have my original light and a Cougar light that I had re plated, but don't remember which lens retainer piece is correct for the Mustang. Any help appreciated
Thank Will

The more i think about this, the one with the numbers stamped deeper seem to match the Mustang light ??

I wonder if you could find examples of either (hard to see on a car) on Ebay for sale to answer your question?

Anothe rsource would be West Coast Cougars online catalog. Often shows original parts along with reproduction one.

Works for me in some situations

West Coast Classic Cougars has been one of the best places to see (and buy!) original parts. They also have a few comparison shots of some hard to decipher items -- power steering drag links comes to mind.

Interestingly, that part was serviced by the same part for all Mustangs 66 and up, C5OZ-13566-B. One from ebay.

Best i can tell, they both have  the same number stamped in each lens retainer , but the intresting difference is the rectangular FoMoCo stamp on the Cougar base and the Oval on the known  69Mstg base ?
Don't the rectangular stamp precede the Oval ???

I think your bottom photo retainer has the deflector bent outward

The MG is Mustang and the CR is Cougar, if that was the original question.
